Training Series

154 educators from the total 24 project sites participated in a four-part training series facilitated through the ECCDC. The first training session was held in October 2016 and included the theory behind a naturalized playground; seeking funding opportunities; traditional vs. naturalized playgrounds; risk benefits analysis vs risk assessment; and networking opportunities. The second session was held in November and sites learned strategies for speaking about naturalized playgrounds with inspectors, program advisors, families, educators, and funders.

The third and final training sessions, held in February 2017, included hands on experiences to implement into a naturalized playground based on the four natural elements: air, earth, water and fire.
